WhatsApp will be ending support for several iOS and Android smartphones this week. The company’s FAQ page says it will not support iPhones running iOS 7 and earlier and Android smartphones running Android 2.3.7 OS starting 1st February 2020.
The page also says that these phones won’t support account verification on new or old accounts starting in February. WhatsApp ended support for Windows phones on 31st December 2019. The company is adding millions of more smartphones to its list. The FAQ page says,
“Because we no longer actively develop for these operating systems, some features might stop functioning at any time.”
The FAQ page also includes operating systems that the company will support. iPhones running iOS 9+ and Android phones running 4.0.3+ will get WhatsApp support and updates. Other phones that will continue to get support from WhatsApp are select phones running KaiOS 2.5.1+, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2.
If you have any of these smartphones, it’s time to upgrade your phone. Let us know in the comments below.
