How do I stop Instagram from scrolling to the top of Android?

I know it's frustrating when instagram scrolls to top, but there's a workaround trick for this!

How to stop Instagram scroll to top on Android

Has this ever happened to you that you were scrolling Instagram and suddenly it refreshes and takes you back to point one (on top)? šŸ„¹

This sucks, especially when you were about to watch a video that seemed interesting but now, the Instagram feedā€™s auto refresh scrolled you to the top of your Android smartphone. šŸ˜

I literally hate it and the app hasnā€™t done anything to stop this nonsense.

But donā€™t worry, Iā€™ve found a workaround that will work.

Method#1: Turn off scrolling using low data mode

Here are the steps to stop Instagram from scrolling to the top on Android:

  1. Open the Instagram app on your Android device.
  2. Tap on the profile icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.
  3. Tap on the three horizontal lines at the top right corner, and select ā€˜Settingsā€™ from the dropdown menu.
  4. In the ā€˜Settingsā€™ menu, tap on ā€˜Accountā€™.
  5. Under the ā€˜Accountā€™ options, tap on ā€˜Cellular Data Useā€™.
  6. Enable the ā€˜Use Less Dataā€™ option.

Method#2: Start using Instagram on desktop/web

If this still annoys you, thereā€™s an option to use Instagram on PC. Itā€™s not an optimal solution, but shared this in case you were looking for possible ways to use Instagram. This wonā€™t let that scroll-to-top thing happen, again. Just visit instagram.com and log in to start using your account on the web/PC/desktop/Mac.

Method#3: Immediately tap and hold the post, donā€™t let it go

Another trick that comes in handy but is difficult to sustain is to immediately hold your post, the moment you see the signs that Instagram is about to refresh. The success rate for this method is only 40% to 50%.

Please note that these steps are accurate as of now, but Instagramā€™s ever-changing habits may change this in the future. Iā€™ll try to keep this page up to date but if thereā€™s anything you might need help with, please feel free to drop the comments below and Iā€™ll respond with a possible solution.
