Has this ever happened to you that you were scrolling Instagram and suddenly it refreshes and takes you back to point one (on top)? š„¹
This sucks, especially when you were about to watch a video that seemed interesting but now, the Instagram feedās auto refresh scrolled you to the top of your Android smartphone. š
I literally hate it and the app hasnāt done anything to stop this nonsense.
But donāt worry, Iāve found a workaround that will work.
In this guide:
Method#1: Turn off scrolling using low data mode
Here are the steps to stop Instagram from scrolling to the top on Android:
- Open the Instagram app on your Android device.
- Tap on the profile icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Tap on the three horizontal lines at the top right corner, and select āSettingsā from the dropdown menu.
- In the āSettingsā menu, tap on āAccountā.
- Under the āAccountā options, tap on āCellular Data Useā.
- Enable the āUse Less Dataā option.
Method#2: Start using Instagram on desktop/web
If this still annoys you, thereās an option to use Instagram on PC. Itās not an optimal solution, but shared this in case you were looking for possible ways to use Instagram. This wonāt let that scroll-to-top thing happen, again. Just visit instagram.com and log in to start using your account on the web/PC/desktop/Mac.
Method#3: Immediately tap and hold the post, donāt let it go
Another trick that comes in handy but is difficult to sustain is to immediately hold your post, the moment you see the signs that Instagram is about to refresh. The success rate for this method is only 40% to 50%.
Please note that these steps are accurate as of now, but Instagramās ever-changing habits may change this in the future. Iāll try to keep this page up to date but if thereās anything you might need help with, please feel free to drop the comments below and Iāll respond with a possible solution.
