UPDATE: Facebook Data Transfer Tool is Now Available
Facebook announces a tool that will let users transfer their photos and videos to Google Photos and other services. The new tool is currently available for Ireland users. The tool is part of an initiative that started back in 2018 between companies like Microsoft, Facebook, Google, and Twitter to improve data sharing between consumers and companies. Later, in 2019 Apple also joined hands with DTP (Data Transfer Project) companies.
Steve Satterfield, director of Privacy and Public Policy at Facebook says,
“The photo transfer tool we’re starting to roll out today is based on code developed through our participation in the open-source Data Transfer Project.”
For now, the tool is being tested and after refinement from user feedback, it will be rolled out worldwide in the first half of 2020.
